No. 59 - My Red Letter Day. And Three Questions for you?

Dear James,

Many thanks for your personal reply to my fifty nine letters to you over the last year. It was much appreciated. This is my fiftieth letter to you so, for me at least, it is quite a red letter day!

I believe that despite the impossible situations your party has put you in over the last three years, you have tried to be fair and honourable as my MP. I disagree with much of what you have said but am willing to accept that those disagreements were merely differences of opinions between us. However, the time is fast approaching when it will no longer be a matter of differences of opinion. It will become a matter of such massive consequences for the future of our nation that your choice will define your future standing as a principled MP whose decisions should be based upon the best expertise available and on the real economic and social interests of all of your constituents.

It comes down to three key questions for you:

      1.    If Mr Johnson becomes your new party leader, will you accept his plan to leave the EU by October 31st’, ‘do or die’, ‘come hell or high water’, ‘no matter what’?

      2.    If Mr Johnson becomes your new party leader and he fails to get an agreement with the EU by October 31st, will you accept his proposal to leave without an agreement and subject to WTO rules?

      3.    If Mr Johnson becomes your new party leader and parliament tries to block the above crash out, will you accept his refusal to rule out the prorogation of parliament in order to force Brexit through?

If your answer to any of the above questions is yes, I am afraid you will be held responsible for exposing our nation to one of the gravest, most reckless and irresponsible decisions made by any government of our nation since the second world war.

That’s quite a decision James. I hope that your principles will withstand the challenge?

Good luck!

Kind regards,

BH - Your Concerned Constituent
